OASIS SENIOR LIVING – VISITATION POLICY
Policy Purpose:
This Visitation Policy (“Policy”) sets forth the rights of residents and responsibilities of visitors in accordance with applicable state and federal law, and is intended to ensure the health, safety, dignity, and well-being of all residents of Oasis Senior Living (the “Facility”). The Facility promotes meaningful resident-visitor relationships while maintaining appropriate safeguards.
I. General Visitation Rights

The Facility shall not restrict the frequency, duration, or timing of in-person visitation by a designated primary visitor, unless such restrictions are imposed in accordance with the conditions set forth herein.

The Facility shall not:

Require any visitor, including a primary visitor, to comply with infection control measures that exceed those required of Facility staff providing direct care to residents.

Mandate proof of vaccination or immunization as a condition of visitation.
-
Prohibit physical contact between a resident and their visitor or primary visitor unless restricted under Section IV of this Policy.

Visitation shall only be denied, limited, modified, or suspended in accordance with this Policy.
II. Visitor Access Requirements
The Facility may:

Limit or restrict access to certain areas for visitors or primary visitors. Staff will provide guidance or post signage identifying such restricted zones.

Require visitors to sign a written acknowledgment agreeing to comply with the Facility’s Visitation Policy before entry is granted.

Require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for infection control purposes, including masks, gloves, gowns, or other items, particularly for non-primary visitors, consistent with CDC or health department guidance.
III. Grounds for Denial, Suspension, or Limitation of Visitation
In-person visitation may be denied, suspended, or limited if a visitor:

Violates the Facility’s Visitation Policy.

Attempts to visit a resident undergoing a medical procedure or treatment during which visitation is medically contraindicated.

Is not authorized to visit by the resident’s designated legal representative or power of attorney.

Seeks contact prohibited by law (e.g., protective orders or legal custody restrictions).
-
Attempts to visit a resident who is under custody of a law enforcement agency or correctional authority.
-
Is determined by the Administrator, registered nurse, or licensed healthcare professional to be counter-therapeutic to the resident’s care, disruptive to Facility operations, or detrimental to resident well-being.

Is abusive, threatening, or engages in any form of harassment or inappropriate conduct towards the resident, staff, or other individuals in the Facility.
IV. Infection Control Protocols
In the event of a declared public health concern or outbreak, the Facility shall follow all directives and guidelines issued by:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Infection control measures may include, but are not limited to:

Temperature checks upon entry.
-
A signed health declaration attesting the absence of infectious symptoms (e.g., flu, cold, COVID-19).

Mandatory PPE usage for certain visitors.
-
Postings of updated education and precautionary materials within the Facility.
Visitors exhibiting signs of contagious illness are encouraged to postpone visitation until symptoms resolve. If visitation is deemed essential, the Administrator may require the visitor to wear a surgical mask or similar protective equipment.
V. Visitation Limits and Duration

Residents who are not ill may receive visits up to four (4) hours per day, unless otherwise pre-approved by the Administrator.

Residents who are ill may receive visits not exceeding one (1) hour per day, except that primary visitors may be permitted extended access at the discretion of Facility leadership.

The maximum number of visitors per day is generally capped at ten (10) per resident unless alternative arrangements are made with the Administrator, the resident’s legal representative, or a healthcare provider.

The maximum number of concurrent visitors per resident at any given time is five (5) unless otherwise authorized.
VI. Additional Provisions

Visitors may consume alcoholic beverages in moderation with the resident, provided no health restrictions exist for the resident. Facility staff are strictly prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages while on duty.

Residents have the right to leave the Facility premises at any time. Secured doors shall only be utilized in designated memory care or dementia care units, in compliance with licensing regulations and for resident safety.

This Policy incorporates by reference applicable provisions from the Facility’s Resident Rights and House Rules, both of which are provided at admission and available upon request.
VII. Administration and Compliance

The Facility Administrator is responsible for ensuring staff are trained and compliant with this Visitation Policy.

The Facility shall furnish a copy of this Policy to the Utah Department of Health or other regulatory agencies upon request.

This Policy shall be posted on the Facility’s official website and made available in printed form to all residents and visitors.
